4 Fun Ways To Upcycle Newspaper

ImageHey guys! So does anyone get newspaper anymore? Well, if you do, don’t get rid of it just yet! Today’s post is all about upcyling it. Newspaper is actually one of my favorite things to craft with – it’s super easy to work with and is so versatile. I made four projects that include it recently, and I thought I would show you guys! If you would like to see a tutorial on any of these please let me know! I hope these ideas inspire you 🙂

Project #1: Decoupage Painting

ImageI got my inspiration for these paintings from Pinterest. The bird painting is my recreation of someone else’s painting, and the abstract one is my design 🙂 These were so easy! I used old used canvasses, newspaper, Mod Podge, and acrylic paint. Best thing? I spent no money!

Project #2: Newspaper Wrapping Paper

So this project is super duper easy! If you are out of wrapping paper, don’t worry! Just use today’s newspaper 🙂 I decorated these presents some ribbon I had around, along with some cupcake liner flowers I made. See how to make the flowers here: Cupcake Liner Flowers Pictorial.

Project #3: Newspaper Flower Wreath

This wreath makes for a great wall decoration, and doesn’t take long to make. You can make it as big or small as you like, depending on how big of pieces of paper you use. I’ve made so many of these types of wreaths! Love them!

Project #4: Newspaper Flower

These flowers are one of my favorite things to make! I can’t tell you how many I’ve made. I actually made a ton with white paper, glued them into a ball, and hung it from my ceiling. You can do so much with these flowers, and I highly recommend giving them a try!

That’s all for now! I hope you enjoyed this post! Will you be making anything with newspaper?

Get To Know Me Tag!

Hey guys! I apologize for the lack of posting lately! Things have been busy, and my nails totally broke (A nail art junkies worst nightmare, am I right?!), so I have been allowing them to grow out again. But no worries, I will have a new nail art design up soon, and I also have a lot of fun crafting ideas 🙂 Chloinmind tagged me to do the “Get To Know Me Tag” awhile ago (thanks so much for tagging me!), and I think it is such a fun tag! While my nails are on the mend I thought I would do it today. Be sure to check out Chloinmind, it’s an amazing blog!

Is your hair naturally curly or straight?

My hair is mostly straight, but it has a lot of body, and tends to be wavy at times.

Do you wear the same style every day, or do you change it?

I change it day to day, but I don’t do anything fancy. I switch between a bun, a high ponytail, straight, and natural (on those lazy days!).

How often do you change your nail polish?

Probably three times a week. I love changing it up and trying new designs. I get bored with what I have on my nails very quickly! I also end up changing my nail polish because it tends to chip quickly, and when that happens I need to take it off! Do any of you know about a great top coat that prevents chipping? I haven’t found one that I love! If you have any recommendations please let me know 🙂

How long does it take for you to put on makeup?

I would say 30 to 45 minutes. It can definitely take me much longer if I don’t have to be anywhere!

What do you do first? Face or eyes?

Most of the time face, but every so often I will do my eyes first. I’m just weird like that I guess!

Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?

Hmmm… I am not a huge collector, but I do end up buying makeup when I don’t need it. So yes, I guess I collect, but a lot. Does that make any sense? Hehehe.

How often do you wear false eyelashes?

Never do!

Do you do a full face of makeup every day?

Yes, but I don’t wear heavy makeup.

Do you wear makeup when you’re home alone or with family?

How many high-end products do you have?

Not that many, most of them have been gifts to me 🙂

How often do you change your handbag?

Not very often, I tend to stick with the same bag for awhile!

Left handed or right handed?

Right handed!

How tall are you?

4’9”! I’m super short. Good things come is small packages though, right??

How many pets do you have?

One dog name Bruno. He’s a Boston Terrier!

How do you blog?

I don’t really have a system actually! I wish I was one of those people who are super organized when it comes to blogging, but alas I’m not!

Do you read comments posted on blogs?

Yes! I love hearing what people have to say and it’s a great way to find new blogs!

How did you come up with your blog name?

I was trying to think of a name that combined crafting with nail art. My mom actually came up with the name! You use polish when doing nail art, and paste when doing crafts. Ta da! Polish and Paste was born!

What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?

I use a 5th generation iPod touch. The camera quality is amazing!

What’s your favorite color?

Pink or mint green.

I tag:

Brijit’s Digits

Flight Of Whimsy

Nearly Nailed It!

Wonderful Wolf

Well, that’s all for today! I hope you guys enjoyed this tag 🙂

DIY Bath Salts

ImageHey guys! With the holiday’s coming up, I thought I would post a nice little DIY gift idea for you all! These bath salts are SO easy to make, and they make great gifts! The also work really well 🙂 So why not give them a try this holiday season? Lets get started on how to make them!

I got the directions on how to make these from this blog: My Delicious Ambiguity. I copied and pasted her directions because they explain the process well 🙂

What you need:
-2 cups  Epsom salts
-1 cup coarse salt
 -1 cup baking soda
-2-3 drops food coloring (optional)
-5-7 drops of essential oil
What to do:
-Mix Epsom salts, baking soda and coarse salt together in a medium
stainless steel mixing bowl using a mixing spoon.
– Add the food coloring and essential oil then quickly stir to avoid clumping.
More food coloring can be added, depending on how dark you would like your bath salts to be.  However, be careful that it is not too dark as some colors can stain the skin.
-Let mixture sit in the bowl until the oil and food coloring is COMPLETELY DRY
and ensure there are no clumps before packaging.
-These look beautiful packaged in decorative jars with ribbon and gift tags.
They also look fantastic if you split your mixture in half before adding the food coloring
so you can layer the colored bath salts with the non-colored bath salts in your decorative jar.
-To use add 1/3 to 1/2 cup to your next bath.
I made my jar labels on the website Edit Monkey (Which is an amazing website by the way!). If you would like some labels that are already made, just follow the link to the blog I got the directions from – she was kind enough to include some labels in her post 🙂
That’s all for today! Will you be giving this fun DIY a try? Thanks for reading! ♥

Cupcake Liner Flowers Pictorial

Hey everyone! I haven’t posted a crafty post in forever! That is going to change today 🙂 I recently saw “cupcake liner flowers” on Pinterest, and I decided to try them out! I added my own twist to them, and I thought I would make a little pictorial for you guys if you are interested in making them.

Lets get on with the tutorial, shall we?

1. Gather your supplies. You will need some cupcake holders, markers, scissors, circles of cardstock that will fit in the bottom of the cupcake holders, glue, tape, and sparkly things (glitter, rhinestones, etc.).

2. Use your marker to color the rim of the cupcake holder. You don’t need to make this perfect. I like the way it looks when the marker is a little uneven – the flower ends up looking more realistic.

3. Cut the petals of the flower. Do this by cutting out small triangles in the holder. You can make as many petals as you want!

4. Round the edges of the petals (this is optional), and glue or tape the circle of cardstock in the middle of the flower.

5. Create a circle of glue in the middle of the cardstock circle, and cover it with your sparkly things! Rhinestones, or even a button in the middle would look cute. Add whatever makes you happy 🙂

That’s it! I love the way these turn out – they are so delicate and pretty! I also like to tape them on twine to create a cute garland – it looks adorable hanging on a wall or over a window!

I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for reading!

Blended Colors

Hey! This manicure was one that I was sad about when it started to chip. It almost has a water-color affect to it, and it would be cool with nearly any color combo. All I did was painted my nails one coat of white, and then dotted blobs of different nail polish over that with a dotting tool.  The design looks best if you sort of blend the colors together with your tool. This was soooo easy to do – you really can’t mess it up.

Duct Tape and Magazine Purse

Hey! Today I’m going to be sharing a project that I really love! It’s this purse made from duct tape and magazines. I’ve been wanting a new purse for a while now, and when I figured out I could make one with a $5.00 roll of white duct tape and some magazines I had lying around, I was so excited! This took me about an hour and a half to make – it’s super easy to do. I made the base of the purse from duct tape, and then cut out random words from some magazines I didn’t want anymore (I love using Teen Vogue for projects like this because they’re filled with bright and fun font!). After I cut out the words, I taped the back of them to the purse and then finished it off with some clear packaging tape to seal the paper and keep it in place. Duct tape actually makes a sturdy and strong bag, and it’s water proof! Yay! 🙂 I love the way this turned out – it’s different and eye-catching. And it cost almost nothing! Win win!
